Making a Difference with Misoprostol: The Case of VSI
Since Nigeria became the first country in the world to register misoprostol, there has been an explosion in global interest around the medicine. VSI is proud to have contributed to this body of work with its unique approach and pioneering misoprostol program.

Preventing Postpartum Hemorrhage at the Community Level
A Compendium of Operations Research
VSI in collaboration with local and international partner organizations conducted operations research (OR) across seven countries in Africa and Asia to determine the feasibility, acceptability, and program effectiveness of misoprostol use to prevent postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) at the community level. Developed for policy makers, stakeholders and researchers, the compendium includes an overview of the basic components of the OR model, country program summaries, and cross-cutting results and best practices to contribute to the growing evidence base on the community-level use of misoprostol to prevent PPH.

Global registration status of misoprostol for obstetric uses
VSI's Global Misoprostol Map presents a snapshot of the current registration status of misoprostol worldwide. Registration is the process by which a drug is approved by a regulatory agency for importation, distribution and marketing for a specific medical indication after a thorough review of its effectiveness, safety and manufacturing process. It is a key strategy and critical first step to improving access to any drug or device.
Misoprostol Use in Postabortion Care: A Service Delivery Toolkit
This toolkit is designed to help district or national-level clinicians, facility managers or program managers initiate the use of misoprostol as a medical treatment for incomplete abortion or integrate misoprostol into existing postabortion care services.
Contraceptive Pocket Guide
A pocket reference for clinicians, this Contraceptive Pocket Guide details the contraceptive methods that can be used after postabortion care services both with misoprostol and manual vacuum aspiration (MVA).

Examples from the Field
A guide to assist program planners on developing information, education and communication (IEC) campaigns as part of a misoprostol program. The focus of the content and messaging is on misoprostol for the prevention and treatment of postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) in Africa.
