Registration
Making quality health products available to the benefit of women - at a price they can afford
Registration is a key strategy for improving access to any drug or device. It is a critical first step to ensuring needed medicines can be imported, distributed, marketed and sold for a specific use. Without registration the quality of a health product is questionable and prices can quickly get inflated as drugs—often expired—move on the black market. Ultimately without the health product, drug or device, there can be no health program.
VSI assesses requirements for registering a new technology and the level of political support needed to achieve product registration. VSI then identifies a quality manufacturer and distributor motivated to make the product available in the public, private and nonprofit sectors at an affordable price, and guides the preparation and submission of the product’s technical dossier.
To this end, VSI works to ensure that high quality health products are registered in a given country to benefit the most women and enable governments and other organizations to carry out important safe motherhood initiatives of their own.
