In this island nation that bears a high burden of maternal death due to unsafe abortion, VSI is working in collaboration with our partner Marie Stopes Madagascar (MSM) to increase access to misoprostol tablets for life-saving care in treating miscarriage and incomplete abortion.

In our initial rollout of misoprostol, we assisted MSM in training doctors on the use of misoprostol, educated community health workers to assist in the introduction of misoprostol in clinics and health centers in six regions, and demonstrated that misoprostol is an effective method of addressing miscarriage and unsafe abortion.
