Our innovative approach involves partnerships that build upon existing infrastructure, resources and markets. We focus on reducing barriers to access and enhancing human capacity to bring about sustainable improvements in health.
VSI places great value on engaging stakeholders and partners from the beginning. We collaborate with a large network of government officials and policy makers, professional medical associations, and NGOs who invite us to work in their countries. These creative and motivated individuals become part of our country coalitions, and their agencies support and scale up programs. VSI’s partners also include organizations such as Population Services International, Marie Stopes InternationaI, and DKT International. We engage with generic pharmaceutical manufacturers in developing countries and distributors in each of our program countries who have a commitment to high quality and low prices and the capacity to reach large numbers of women. Our direct link to academics and researchers at the Bixby Center for Population, Health & Sustainability at the University of California, Berkeley ensures we can quickly mobilize to generate the needed evidence-base that informs our work.
We have developed a model to increase access to needed technologies such as drugs, devices and services for women’s health. In the course of our programs, we provide technical leadership and financial support in a number of areas that are key to program success.
